TypeToWork

Accuracy before speed

A useful typing habit is repeatable. Start at a pace where you can read the next word without rushing the current one.

Find your comfortable pace

Try a one-minute test without chasing the timer. Keep your shoulders relaxed and your wrists comfortable. At the end, read your actual accuracy and note the characters you missed. A single score is a starting point, not a judgement about your ability.

Read a little ahead

Look at the next short word while you finish the current one. Read punctuation as part of the passage. Capitals, spaces and line breaks count in TypeToWork, so a missing space can affect the characters that follow. Use Backspace to correct the text when it helps you learn.

Understand the feedback

The final-text score compares the characters currently in your input against the same positions in the target. Correcting a mistake improves this final score. Attempt accuracy also counts mistakes you later removed. These two measures answer different questions; use both to notice habits.

Try a focused repeat

After a test, pick one pattern: capitals, a letter pair or spacing. Practise it slowly for a minute, then try a comparable test with the same duration, content and keyboard type. Compare several sessions before drawing a conclusion. If you feel pain, stop and adjust your workstation.
