Catch date and amount mistakes

Good data entry follows an explicit format. Decide what a field means before entering it, and review important differences after the task.

Make the date unambiguous

TypeToWork office exercises use DD/MM/YYYY: 05/11/2026 means 5 November 2026. Enter two digits for both the day and month. A real calendar check rejects 31/02/2026 even though it has the right shape. Avoid interpreting an unfamiliar date through a browser or spreadsheet default.

Keep amounts separate from identifiers

Currency represents an amount; an invoice number identifies a record. The amount 12540.50 may also appear as ₹12,540.50. Both are accepted in these exercises. The reference 00125 must keep every zero. These are different comparison rules because the fields have different meanings.

Check decimal places

A misplaced decimal can change an amount dramatically. Read the whole amount, then the fractional part. TypeToWork compares amounts in integer paise to avoid floating-point rounding differences. Up to two decimal places and conventional comma grouping are accepted.

Review the actual difference

The result table shows source and entered values side by side. A missing field counts against the total field accuracy. Accepted formatting variations are labelled separately from errors. When the cause is uncertain, compare the values directly instead of assuming the explanation is a diagnosis.
